Day In and Day Out I hear from so many “I am eating well,” and am always dieting but still can’t seem to stop gaining weight. The philosophy of eating less and exercising more only works for a very brief time. Many factors drive our metabolism. There are also other factors to consider when it comes to Weight Gain you may not have considered. If you read the last article I spoke of how certain hormones impact our weight, today I touch on a few more.
Boost Your Beauty and Health with Less Stress
The primary stress hormone CORTISOL is necessary, but not continual low-level stress elevation. Cortisol is the boss of other hormones. When it is elevated over some time, it can slow down your thyroid, raise your blood sugar, cause sugar cravings, increase belly fat, and age your skin.
Controlling Cortisol is a critical component – to decrease your risk of early death, and of course, Belly Fat.
Dial-up the rest & restorative activities to lower Cortisol and lose fat.
✅ Take a 1-hour leisurely walk each day outside, preferably in nature setting – lowers Cortisol more.
✅ Yoga – Do more Restorative Yoga. (improves respiratory function, reduce anxiety, depression and chronic pain)
✅ Try Tai Chi
✅ Get a Massage
✅ Deep Breathing Exercises
✅ Foam Roll (self-myofascial release)
✅ Sauna and other restorative non-exercise practices.
✅ Schedule relaxing activity into your life.
Persistent Organic Pollutants effects on Hormones and Weight Gain
These should be a part of your EVERYDAY lifestyle (not just when you are “trying to be good”).
Eat organic meat, dairy (if you eat dairy), and produce when possible.
Avoid Soy, a known endocrine (hormones of the thyroid, adrenals, sex organs, pancreas, and thymus) disruptor that mimics estrogen in the body.
Decrease your use of plastics and never eat or drink from plastic food containers. Plastics contain BPA and other chemicals and even one’s without BPA leach hormone-disrupting chemicals in your food. (Sisters tell this to the young men in your life – heating food in a microwave in plastic, then eating from that container is decreasing their testosterone levels.)
Read your cosmetics labels: our skin absorbs artificial fragrances, parabens, and other chemicals commonly found in cosmetics. They’re known as “environmental estrogens.” Slowly wean yourself off mainstream cosmetics and opt for natural, safer alternatives.
I hope you find it vital to make sense of some of the confusion regarding health and fat loss.
